Saluhall, a Nordic food hall, is coming to 945 Market St., home to downtown S.F.'s new IKEA.

A highly anticipated Scandinavian food hall joining the downtown San Francisco IKEA will include a bakery from the co-founder of a restaurant that has frequently topped a list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

IKEA’s real estate arm, Ingka Centres, announced that Claus Meyer, who started Coppehagen’s Noma with chef Rene Redzepi, will open a bakery cafe at its Market Street mall’s Scandinavian food court, named Saluhall.

The bakery will offer all-day service and include a cooking school, according to a company press release.

“It’s an honor to be invited to bring delicious ideas and vibes from Copenhagen to the San Francisco Bay Area,” Meyer said in a statement that name-checked local luminaries Alice Waters of Chez Panisse and Chad Robertson of Tartine.

The bakery is the first attraction announced for the two-level, 23,000-square-foot culinary center, slated to open in 2024. It will include five local food vendors and three bars serving local craft beer and wine. Ingka Centres says 80% of Saluhall’s offerings will be plant-based.
