F/A-18 Super Hornets belonging to the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, fly above San Francisco Bay during practice ahead of last year’s Fleet Week in San Francisco.

Since its inception in 1981, San Francisco’s annual Fleet Week celebration has been one of the country’s largest events of its type, bringing out locals and visitors alike to honor service members in uniform.

Many of the week’s events are scheduled to take place along the Embarcadero and at the Marina Green, with a handful of others planned for locations around the city. Arrive early to beat the crowds at the popular weekend air shows. Marina Green has organized seating areas, including VIP options available for purchase. Fisherman’s Wharf, the Embarcadero, Presidio Tunnel Tops, Twin Peaks and Crissy Field also offer places with great views to stake out a spot and watch for free.
