About this event
This walking tour will be focused on “re-introducing the Presidio to tour guides”.
As we begin to welcome visitors to San Francisco again, we wanted to re-aquaint guides to this urban Army base turned National Park. We’ll have a welcome and overview of lodging available in the park and a short presentation of the history of building 105 which is now the Lodge at the Presidio.
We will also receive a presentation by representatives of the Presidio Trust on the future “Tunnel Tops" project and find out what will be available to visitors when it opens in Spring 2022. Then we’ll walk over to the current archeology site where they are working on uncovering and learning about the origins of El Presidio Presidio Real De San Francisco. We’ll then take a short walk over to the National Cemetery, where former Presidio Park Ranger Rik Penn will tell us about its history and a few of the personalities buried there.
