Hot Dog Bills' Burgerdog has been lauded by everyone from Barack Obama to Justin Timberlake

I was scheduled to meet Candy Parrish around 10 a.m. at Hot Dog Bills, her father Bill Parrish’s famed Olympic Club golf course food stand. We were supposed to sit at its lone table and have a conversation about the history of her family’s iconic 75-year-old concession while enjoying its world-famous Burgerdog — a long, cylindrical beef patty loaded with burger fixings and served in a hot dog bun — except there’s a problem.

I’m already done with mine. And she’s still answering the first question.

Born in Tobinsport, Indiana, in 1917, Bill Parrish fell in love with the trumpet at an early age and used his talent to finance a college education at Indiana University. As soon as he was done with school, he and his horn instrument started playing in big bands, zig-zagging across America on his way to fame and fortune in Los Angeles.

Except he never made it past the City by the Bay.
