A contemporary art exhibition will make its American debut this weekend at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts, bringing nearly two dozen interactive pieces that explore the link between art and emotion to The City.
“EmotionAir: Art You Can Feel” opens Saturday. The exhibition, which runs through September, spans 7,000 square feet and consists of 22 artists’ large installations, projections, performance art and inflatable artworks. San Francisco is the fourth city globally to host the collection.
Exhibition organizer Lux Entertainment began working on its showcase of artworks that push the physical boundaries of form and space four years ago, leading to the U.S. debut of the Balloon Museum project at the Palace of Fine Arts this year. The project, organizers said, is the first traveling, immersive contemporary art exhibition dedicated entirely to inflatable art.
“EmotionAir” first debuted in 2023 in England and traveled to Germany and Belgium over the last two years. Fabio Fantauzzi, the head of communications for Lux Entertainment, told The Examiner on Monday that organizers chose San Francisco for the exhibition’s first stop on a North American tour because The City “is a major cultural hub, boasting a vibrant art scene, world-renowned museums and an audience that is receptive to innovation.”
