Join Russian Hill Neighbors for a one-of-a-kind walking tour of the Golden Gate Bridge led by international oil field geologist Jack Grippi and Linda Cahill, both longtime National Park Service volunteers. This fascinating tour offers a deeper look into one of San Francisco’s most iconic landmarks built on a crack in the edge of the earth.
You’ll hear stories about the revolutionary design of the bridge and how San Francisco’s plate tectonics created an engineering controversy between Stanford and Berkeley. From ocean currents and seismic fault lines to the bridge’s sculptural design and daring construction, this tour will blend natural and human history into a rich, engaging experience.
This tour is expected to last about 2 hours and includes walking on and around the bridge including several inclines – comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing recommended.
