The 6th edition of the Happy City Index has been officially announced at the UK Parliament in London, marking the culmination of the largest community-driven study of urban development in the world. The event took place at the seat of the British Parliament, made possible through the support and continued engagement of Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP, who has been a consistent advocate for sustainable urban development, with a strong focus on the happiness and well-being of residents.



Covering 251 cities and based on 64 indicators across six dimensions, the Index highlights cities that combine quality of life, sustainability and long-term development strategies. The 2026 edition also introduces the Happy City Alliance, a new framework for cooperation and shared learning among leading cities.
