About this event

Give your tour guide and concierge bona fides a significant bump. Join us on the Mission Street side of the Marriott Marquis at 8:45 am on Tuesday, October 24, on a splendid autumn day with a bit of crispness in  the air, and the vineyards and forests in luscious coloration; this promises to be an unforgettable adventure.

Arriving at Sonoma Plaza, we'll be greeted by Tim Zahner, the Executive Director of the Sonoma Valley Visitor Center. Tim will spend an hour highlighting the best that Sonoma Plaza has to offer. For some of us this will be a brush-up. For others, it will be a introduction to the historic plaza, which is a central focus in our Sonoma County wine tours.

Departing Sonoma, we'll sashay through Glen Ellen and the Valley of the Moon, en route to historic Railroad Square in Santa Rosa. We'll be greeted there by Pam Higley, a California Welcome Center Concierge at visitsantarosa.com/. As did Tim Zahner in Sonoma, Pam will showcase the best of Historic Railroad Square, Santa Rosa’s old town, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

This will be a opportunity for lunch, which will be either BYO or a pop-in at one of the many restaurants, delis, and such suggested by Pam and her colleagues.

From Santa Rosa, it's a short hop to Healdsburg and its historic plaza. Meeting  us there will be Rachel Droesch, the Chief Concierge at the boutique Madrona Hotel, https://themadronahotel.com/. As did Tim and Pam, Rachel will spend about two hours introducing us to Healdsburg's "Pick of the Litter".

Rachel, Pam, and Tim are very excited about their opportunity to show off their respective venues to a coach-load of professional San Francisco tour guides and hotel concierges. We are equally as excited to be hosted by this trio of experienced and engaging, tourism, specialists.

So be there or be square. I'm guessing that for many of you, this exposure to Santa Rosa and Healdsburg will be a new experience. You will not be disappointed. It will greatly increase your understanding and appreciation of Sonoma County and its delights and attractions. It will also demonstrably add to your Sonoma County knowledge base that you can then share with your guests.

We'll depart Healdsburg at 3:30 pm and shuffle back to San Francisco, arriving at our destination, the Ferry Building, about 5:00 pm.
