The Gardens of Lake Merritt and the Bonsai Gardens at Lake Merritt

About this event

A private, docent led, visit to both gardens, with Suzanne Summer, Director of the Bonsai Gardens and Carole Levenson, co-president of the Botanical Gardens.

"Established more than a half-century ago, the Gardens serve as a source of great regional pride, a cultural and educational center and a place to enjoy tranquility in the heart of the city. The Gardens are poised to serve as an example of the highest standards of horticulture and historic preservation while providing enriching public programs."

"We are a living art museum that is home to some of the finest bonsai in the U.S. Located within Oakland’s Lake Merritt Lakeside Park, the Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt (BGLM) is the permanent home of some 150 bonsai and suiseki viewing stones attracting bonsai enthusiasts and the general public."
