Transportation to and from the museum can be either via Amtrak, carpool, or individual car. You will have to arrange that on your own. Your registration fee includes admission and a docent tour in the museum. The museum opens at 10am and we will meet in front of the museum by 9:50am.
Learn new material about the Transcontinental Railroad and some important people AND important innovations in railroading in the 19th and early 20th centuries: improved braking systems; refrigeration cars supporting the California Agriculture industry; elegant dining and sleeping cars for passengers of the Gilded age and industrial capitalists after WW I.
After our one hour tour, you could choose to stay in the museum or visit the California History Museum next door. Or you may want to wander around Old Sacramento. If there is enough interest, we might be able to add an underground tour of Sacramento.
Lunch will be on your own in one of the many restaurants nearby, or bring your own picnic lunch if you wish.
Ride the train, mingle with fellow guides, and learn tidbits about the Delta, Budweiser, Jelly Belly, and the Yolo Causeway.

Book your own ticket on Amtrak. You can not reserve a seat, but you'll want to board or walk to the last car on the train.
Carpools are fine, we will meet at the museum at 10 AM when the museum opens.
