In occasion of the celebration for Golden Gate Park's 150th anniversary, the SFTGG would like to resume walking tours with a safe exploration of Oak Woodlands for a small group of participants. We are hoping to run a second walking tour in the Park if receive enough interest from our members. This outdoor training will be presented by Guild's member Fred Decker who is a Golden Gate Park volunteer, and will share his passion for the history and nature of San Francisco’s celebrated park, gardens and recreation jewel. Tour the exceptionally beautiful Phil Arnold and Oak Woodlands trails within the native habitat in Golden Gate Park’s northeast quadrant. Using a custom field guide of local natives (yours to keep) to identify and inspect the natural flora, you’ll pass Lick Hill, the Pygmy Forest, (Mayor) Coon Hollow, and other little known spots. Are you familiar with the horseshoe pits? the bas-relief sculpture in the hillside and the new ADA trail? You will see all on this unique tour. The trails are composed of paved and sandy paths, mostly flat with few hilly sections. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended. The walking tour will last for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, ending at the Music Concourse where participants will be able to experience, as an optional activity, the 150-foot SkyStar Observation Wheel. Tickets purchased individually, info below. If interested, we suggest purchasing entrance for the 3:00 pm or 4:00 pm time. https://www.skystarwheel.com
