In collaboration with the San Francisco Historical Society, join us on this tour of Fisherman's Wharf, the most attended free attraction in San Francisco, to discover how commercial fishing coexists with the modern tourist Mecca
Learn how Native Americans, Chinese, Italians, whaling sea captains, and sport fishermen all have harvested seafood from the Bay and Pacific Ocean Waters.
From the Gold Rush to modern times, absorb known and obscure information about multiple locations of Fisherman's Wharf, square riggers, Chinese junks, ocean going steamers, naval vessels and ferry boats all of which contributed to the area's saga.
Starting at the Musée Méchanique at Pier 45, we will walk on flat terrain to the Maritime Museum at Aquatic Parkin just under 2 hours.
Along the way, you'll hear stories about World War II ships, a San Francisco theatrical production called The Cable Car Nymphomaniac, and the crisis when they "broke the mold" for Irish Coffee glasses.
Registration is required. A portion of a non member ticket can be applied to a Guild membership.
