Spring is springing in the Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park, Sunday February 23rd, 2025
I've eyeballed this several times from MUNI, and it seems to be well designed. well used, and relatively bereft of the usual Mid-Market menagerie.

San Francisco celebrated the expansion of the skate park at United Nations Plaza over the weekend with a ribbon-cutting Friday and a kickoff Saturday featuring events for young skateboarders.
The skate park, which opened in 2023, features new skate elements and redesigned paving to make the space more accessible to skaters of all levels. The expansion adds 2,100 square feet of skateable surface to the plaza’s northeast corner and features three skateable geometric art pieces designed by Olympic skateboarder Alexis Sablone, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology-trained architect.
Sablone’s skatable structures “combine public art and skate spot architecture to engage both novice and experienced skaters alike,” Benjamin Anderson Bashein, CEO of the Skatepark Project, said in a statement. “This innovative installation showcases the fusion of skateboarding, art, and design and reimagines public spaces as hybrid playscapes.”
Saturday’s kickoff, hosted by the Converse shoe company and the Skatepark Project and Skate Like a Girl nonprofits, sought to inspire the next generation of skaters with giveaways, trick competitions, and live demonstrations by the Converse Cons skate team.
“The expansion of UN Skate Plaza will make this critical space more welcoming to our families and visitors,” Mayor Daniel Lurie said in a statement. “I want to thank the Skatepark Project and Converse for being partners in this project and our city’s revitalization.”
